SINCE 2013

Our story began in 2013, when I bought my first apartment in Madrid, on Calle Limón. From the initial search to the full renovation, I learned everything involved in creating a home — materials, decisions, challenges and all the unexpected issues along the way. And at the same time, how rewarding it is to finally live in a space designed with care and attention to every detail.

That experience led me to a complete career change. I specialised in property management and rentals in Madrid and launched Lemon and Other Stories with a simple goal: to make finding a home in Madrid easy, wherever you are and whatever the length of your stay.

With a background in translation, I’ve always been connected to languages, travel and different cultures. I’ve lived in several countries and moved homes many times — with family, in shared flats and student residences. I know first-hand how challenging it can be to arrive in a new city without knowing where to start.

Back in 1999, when I moved to Paris as an Erasmus student, it took me a full month to find a room, calling listings from phone booths. In 2001, moving to Mexico felt like a real adventure with very little information available online. And in 2008, China quite literally got me “lost in translation” — although after four years, I picked up a pretty decent Beijing accent.

All these experiences have shaped Lemon and Other Stories.
